This article provides a step-by-step guide to integrate BizLibrary with Cornerstone's Online Content Connector, enabling seamless management of learning content from external providers within the Cornerstone Learning Management System (LMS).
Integration Process Overview
To successfully integrate with Cornerstone’s Online Content Connector, it is important to follow the steps below, which include initial activation by Cornerstone. This guide also covers how to handle existing connectors for those upgrading from older versions.
Steps to Integrate
1. Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that the following prerequisites are met:
- You have obtained the following from BizLibrary:
- Client Integration Identifier (CIID)
- Your Cornerstone LMS administrator has Edge Integrations - Manage permissions.
- You have the Base URL from Cornerstone.
- Example – https://client.csod.com
Note: If you have existing connectors from an older version, please follow the section below on handling legacy connectors before proceeding with the new integration.
2. Activation (Account Manager Involvement)
The initial activation of the Online Content Connector must be handled through your Cornerstone Account Manager. Activation is required to enable the integration within your Cornerstone portal.
- Contact your Cornerstone Account Manager to request activation of the integration and complete your purchase.
- You will need to specify whether the activation should occur in a Production environment or a Pilot/Stage environment for testing purposes before going live.
Once the connector is purchased from Cornerstone, the following steps will be completed by the Cornerstone team.
3. Admin-Level Configuration (Cornerstone will configure for the client)
After activation, the Cornerstone LMS administrator can configure the integration:
- Log in to your Cornerstone LMS as an Administrator.
- Navigate to Admin > Tools > Edge > Integrations.
- Locate the Content Vendor Integration tile and click Configure.
- On the Settings page, enter:
- Account ID (CIID): Your BizLibrary Billing ID, provided by BizLibrary.
- Important: Share the Client ID, Client Secret, and Base URL with BizLibrary to complete the integration.
- Click Save Settings.
Once saved, the integration will automatically sync content from your vendor into Cornerstone as Online Content Learning Objects (OLCO). The initial synchronization can take up to 24 hours.
4. Handling Legacy Connectors
If you are migrating from an older version of the Content Connector, you must follow these steps to avoid issues such as duplicate content or synchronization failures:
- Disable the old connector by contacting Cornerstone’s Global Customer Support (GCS) team. Request them to disable any existing vendor content to avoid conflicts.
- Optionally: If you have historical transcript records from the previous integration, you may need to migrate these to the new connector. This can be done using Cornerstone’s Reporting 2.0 and Edge Import.
Testing the Integration
After completing the setup:
- Validate that the courses are successfully synced by generating a report in Admin > Reports > Reporting 2.0.
- Ensure that learners can launch courses and track progress within Cornerstone.
For Clients with Legacy Connectors
For clients using older versions of the connector, it’s important to:
- Ensure that the old connector is disabled before enabling the new one.
- Migrate historical data, such as learner progress and course completions, if needed, using the Reporting 2.0 and Edge Import.
- Contact Cornerstone Global Support if you encounter any issues during the migration or setup process.
Support
If you encounter any issues, please contact your BizLibrary representative (support@bizlibrary.com) or Cornerstone Global Integration Services for assistance.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
Speak with your CSOD representative to get started! It is important to note that this content
integration is not listed in the Edge Marketplace, however, is still available to be used by
BizLibrary clients using the CSOD LMS. Your CSOD representative will need to involve their
technical integrations team to get the process started.
What does it cost?
The content connector is a CSOD product/functionality and not controlled by BizLibrary. Please speak with your CSOD representative to receive a quote.
What tasks will I still need to perform?
Content updates happen every 24 hours between BizLibrary and CSOD.
When new titles are added to your portal, you will be ready to publish them to your employees in bulk or by selecting specific titles. This action is recommended on a monthly basis.
As monthly retirements are announced, you have 90 days to remove them before they are inactivated. It will be up to you when you choose to archive retired courses, we recommend that you check these on a monthly basis.
How are content retirements reflected while using the content connector?
By default, inactive content is not visible to Catalog Admins. However, the catalog admins can change settings and still view the inactive content in their portal.
Inactive content cannot be assigned to new users. If there are already any users who have that inactive training on their transcript, the launch button will be disabled and they will not be able to launch the content anymore.
