The Quizzes and Surveys functionality in BizLibrary offers a versatile way to assess learner knowledge, measure comprehension, and gather valuable feedback on training content and learning experiences. This feature allows administrators to easily create, assign, and manage evaluations and feedback forms directly within the platform.
You can create multiple-choice, true/false, short answer, and essay questions for quizzes, and use rating scales, open-ended questions, or satisfaction metrics for surveys. The tool lets you set passing scores, randomize questions, and provide immediate feedback for assessments. For surveys, you can gather anonymous input to improve course design or measure training effectiveness.
Use the Quizzes and Surveys tool to verify learning outcomes, ensure compliance understanding, collect post-training feedback, and enhance the quality and relevance of your entire training library.
This article contains 3 key areas of Quiz and Survey Management:
Quiz and Survey Question Types
This section details the various question types available when creating quizzes, tests, or assessments within the BizLibrary platform. Understanding these formats will help you choose the best way to measure learner comprehension, collect feedback, and design effective evaluations for your training initiatives. We cover common selection types (Checkbox, Radio, Dropdown) as well as open-ended, pairing, and rating scale questions.
| Question Type | Description | Best Used For |
| Checkbox – Vertical/Horizontal | Allows the learner to select one or more correct answers from a list of options. The format simply dictates the layout (stacked list vs. side-by-side). | Questions that have multiple correct answers. |
| Radio – Vertical/Horizontal | Requires the learner to select only one correct answer from a list of options. The format simply dictates the layout (stacked list vs. side-by-side). | Standard multiple-choice questions with a single best answer. |
| Dropdown | Requires the learner to select only one correct answer from a collapsed list that expands upon clicking. This saves screen space compared to Radio button lists. | Standard multiple-choice questions, especially when there are many options or screen space is limited. |
| Short Answer | Provides a single-line text box for the learner to type a concise, open-ended response. The answer must exactly match the correct text input by the author to be auto-graded as correct. | Testing specific facts, acronyms, or very short recall answers. |
| Long Answer | Provides a multi-line text box for the learner to type a detailed, open-ended response. These questions cannot be auto-graded and require a manual review by an administrator/instructor. | Collecting detailed feedback, essay responses, or measuring subjective comprehension. |
| Mix/Match | Presents two columns of items (e.g., terms and definitions) that the learner must pair up correctly. | Associating concepts, matching terms with definitions, or pairing items in a sequence. |
| Likert *Survey Only | rate their agreement or frequency using a standardized scale (e.g., Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Neutral, Agree, Strongly Agree). | Measuring attitudes, opinions, satisfaction, or collecting feedback on a topic. |
Creating and Managing Quizzes and Survey's
Administrators have the ability to create quizzes and surveys within the system, either as standalone resources or as a supplemental resource for another custom content item. These can be configured to be the main course or as a closing activity after learners have completed a course.
Create a standalone quiz or survey:
- From your Homepage select Administration
- On the administration sidebar menu, select Learning then Libraries
- Select your custom library
- Under the Content tab select, Actions, then Add Content
- Select "Quiz/Survey" as the content type
- Next, fill out the profile information for the quiz or survey
- Please note for quizzes, pass percentage, title, and content are required fields
- Please note for surveys, title and content code are required fields
- Lastly, select "Add to Library" to create your quiz or survey
- Note, after creating your quiz, you can update your quiz settings from the profile page, under the Quiz tab > Quiz Settings subtab
Fields available within Quiz Settings include:
- Instructions: Enter text in this field if you would like the learner to see a message for instructions before they start the quiz.
- Assessment Type: This field will default to Quiz, meaning it will be graded. If you choose Survey, the learner will not receive a score for right or wrong answers.
- Pass Percentage: This is the only available for quizzes. This is the percentage of correct answers that the learner will need to pass the the quiz.
- Question Order: If you select Ordered, questions will appear in the order that you create them. If you select Random, the questions will be in a different mixed order each time the learner makes a new attempt.
- Learner attempt Limit: The number entered here will be the number of quiz attempts the learner is allowed to submit. Using this field, you can decide the degree of difficulty of the learner experience. Leave this field blank if the learner is allowed an unlimited number of submissions in order to pass.
- Status Tracking: If you select On Submission, the system will save the record of each new learner attempt whether they pass or not. If you select On Passing Score, the system will only save the attempts in which the learner passes the quiz.
- Continue Later: When selected, this checkbox will allow learners to save their quiz or survey progress and return at a later time to complete.
- Show Correct Answer: When selected, this checkbox will show the learners the correct answer upon submission.
- Copy Previous Attempt: When selected, this checkbox will populate any previously submitted answers should the learner retake the survey or quiz.
- Pass Information: This is a message that appears to the learner as soon as they pass the quiz (ex. "Congratulations, you've passed!).

To add a quiz or survey to an existing content, simply navigate to the content profile page, select the Quiz tab, then follow the instructions provided above to add the quiz or survey.
Helpful tip: After creating the quiz or survey, you can view it by selecting Preview under the quiz header. You can also view and delete quiz attempts and submissions here after learners have completed it.
Resetting Quiz Attempts
BizLibrary quizzes often use attempt limits to serve as a Checkpoint for learners who may be struggling to pass. If a learner reaches the attempt limit, they will be locked out of the quiz. This is designed to initiate a conversation with a supervisor or administrator to ensure the learner receives appropriate support before attempting the quiz again.
To reset a quiz attempt:
- From your Homepage select Administration.
- On the administration sidebar menu, select Learning then Libraries.
- Select your custom library and search for the applicable course.
- Select the title of the course to open the profile.
- Navigate the the Quiz tab and select Individual.
- Search for the applicable learner and review their responses as needed.
- When ready, delete one or more of the attempt limits by selecting the Trashcan icon to the right of the attempt.
- Confirm the deletion.
The quiz is now available for the learner to try again,
