Custom Content: Integrating Proprietary Materials into Your LMS

Centralizing your workforce’s knowledge is the key to delivering the right training to the right people at the right time. Whether you need to host proprietary SOPs, organization-specific compliance, or specialized SCORM packages, the Custom Content functionality in BizLibrary provides the flexibility to build a comprehensive learning library that scales with your business.

Custom Content Management

Best for: Administrators who need to centralize unique internal processes, onboarding procedures, and organizational policies alongside the award-winning BizLibrary course catalog.

The Benefits of Custom Content:

The primary benefit of utilizing Custom Content is the ability to provide a centralized content repository for all employee development. By housing your proprietary materials within the BizLMS, administrators can:

  • Eliminate Technical Barriers: No developer skills required; if you can upload a file, you can launch a custom course.
  • Gain Granular Precision: Perfect for managing niche training needs and internal compliance with total accuracy.
  • Receive Immediate Feedback: Track completions and engagement on your own materials just as you would with BizLibrary-produced content.

Proprietary File Uploads

  • What it is: The most direct way to turn your internal documents and videos into trackable learning assets.
  • How it works: Within the content management section, you can securely upload videos (MP4), documents (PDF, Word), and presentations. The system automatically wraps these files into a course format.
  • The Impact: Provides complete control over your internal knowledge base, ensuring that "how-to" guides and company handbooks are accessible and reportable.

Custom SCORM & AICC Courses

  • What it is: A professional-grade approach to integrating interactive modules and web-based resources.
  • How it works: Admins can upload SCORM-compliant packages to be tracked within the learner's transcript.
  • The Impact: Perfect for "in-the-moment" administration.

External Links

  • What it is: A way to include web-based resources, articles, or internal portals as part of your training curriculum.

  • How it works: Admins simply input the URL of the external site. Because these are hosted elsewhere, clicking the link will take the learner away from the BizLibrary platform to view the content in a new tab or window.

  • The Impact: Perfect for "in-the-moment" administration, like giving learners instant access to a new internal dashboard, a benefits portal, or a specific industry-standard certification site.

Frequently Asked Questions: Custom Content

General Questions

  • Can I mix BizLibrary courses and my custom content in the same Learning Initiative? Yes! This is a “best practice." You can pair a BizLibrary course on "General Communication" with a custom PDF outlining your company’s specific email etiquette policy.
  • Is my custom content secure? Absolutely. Your proprietary materials are hosted securely and are only accessible to the learners and teams you specifically authorize within your BizLMS environment.

Management & Tracking

  • Do I need IT to help me upload a SCORM file? No. The interface is designed for HR and L&D professionals. If you have the file, you can upload it and set the tracking parameters yourself.
  • How long does it take for a new upload to be available? Minutes. Once the upload and processing are complete, you can assign the content immediately to any individual or team.
