BizLibrary content may be used in the BizLibrary Learning Management System (LMS) or in a non-BizLibrary LMS. When used with the BizLibrary LMS, all aspects of library maintenance and content updates are handled automatically for you. For non-BizLibrary Learning Management Systems clients will need to handle the update themselves or work with their LMS vendor directly.
Content Life-cycle Events
- Production Date – when the content was created by the producer
- Release Date – when the content was released by BizLibrary
- Archival Date – when the content was archived* or scheduled for archival
- Synchronization Date – when the content was last updated
*Content with an archive date in the past can no longer be launched.
Using Content Within a LMS
Within the BizLibrary Learning Management System
When a client uses the BizLibrary LMS, maintenance of all BizLibrary content libraries is automatically handled for you. Newly released content is added to libraries and archived content is automatically removed.
Within a Non-BizLibrary Learning Management System
When clients use a non-BizLibrary LMS, they are responsible for the updates and maintenance of all learning content. The client will either directly manage the content or work with their LMS vendor to handle the updates.
Course Launch and Tracking
Content Technology
Regardless of which standard you choose to use with your LMS, BizLibrary content works in much the same way. The course files contain links or stub les with links to the content. Once content is launched, the learner’s browser is redirected to the appropriate content, and tracking information is delivered to the LMS.

BizLibrary content launches, tracks status, and communicates with non-BizLibrary LMS's via three major content communication standards.

Cross Domain Browser Considerations
Browser security for cross-domain communication is a major concern for any LMS. BizLibrary handles cross-domain browser restrictions depending on which course communication standard is being used.
AICC
AICC communicates from the BizLibrary content delivery application to the client’s LMS directly. AICC very rarely has cross-domain restrictions.
SCORM 1.2 & SCORM 2004
All versions of SCORM rely on JavaScript browser communication. BizLibrary mitigates any cross-browser restrictions by using browser standards.
xAPI
xAPI communicates from the BizLibrary content delivery application to the client’s LMS directly in order to avoid cross-domain issues. BizLibrary has adopted the cmi5 specification for all xAPI course communications.
Data Privacy & Security
BizLibrary strongly recommends that all systems utilize HTTPS for all online learning web traffic. This is a best practice for all web traffic to keep browsers and applications safe and secure. BizLibrary content stores and tracks the following information related to learning.
